Diamond Aircraft, founded in 1981 and headquartered in Wiener Neustadt, is one of the world's leading specialists for piston-engined aircraft with a unique, specialized product range. Around 5,500 Diamond aircraft are in operation. Diamond employs around 1,000 people in Europe, China and Canada.
CANCOM Austria emerged from K-Businesscom (formerly Kapsch BusinessCom) at the beginning of 2024. The following case study was written before that and therefore the text was left in the original version.
Business Challenge
Two Cisco-based projects were to be developed and implemented for Diamond Aircraft in order to achieve more efficient utilization of the data centers and higher availability of the IT infrastructure with fewer disadvantages in the event of hardware defects.
Solution
Data Center Refresh: Updating the infrastructure for current and future technologies. Previously installed 2nd and 3rd generation Cisco UCS blade servers were replaced by 5th generation Cisco UCS blade servers at the redundant data center locations.
Cisco hyperconverged platform: The basis for the new high-availability platform is Cisco HyperFlex with a software-defined storage cluster across two physical servers. Office systems such as file servers are now available via the HyperFlex platform, and parts of the Cisco Call Manager collaboration environment are also provided via it.
